Hydrogeology and the Mining Lifecycle

To the layperson, “Hydrogeology” is defined as a branch of geology concerned with the occurrence, use, and functions of surface water and groundwater. At Marshall Miller & Associates, hydrogeology means much more than that. To gauge the environmental impact that a mining enterprise will have on water tables and supplies, we apply hydrogeology science, technology and best practices beginning at the planning phase to anticipate effects on water resources through the environmental reclamation phase of a mine’s closure.

Operational Assessments – Optimizing Production Output from Your Mining Investments

MM&A offers a team of operational experts to assess mining operations and develop plans to increase production in safe and effective manner.  We bring more than 25 years of operations experience in the mining industry.  Our professionals have experience in surface mining, underground mining, coal mining, hard rock mining, metal mining and non-metal mining. We assess operations from the active face to the market.  Our team of experts collaborate with existing mine management to develop plans for improvement that are based upon achievable goals.  We identify areas for operational improvement, assess equipment, scheduling, staffing, mining practices, ventilation, safety, and infrastructure.  Our operational experts collaborate with our geological staff to ensure mine plans accurately honor geological conditions.

Reserve Analysis Based on National and International Reporting Standards.

When assessing economically recoverable reserves, operating companies, mineral owners and investors are faced with a multitude of reporting standards.  Marshall Miller and Associates dedicates a team of mining engineers, geologists, hydrologists and experts from related disciplines to determine recoverable reserves using the full range of international standards that include JORC, NI 43-101, (CRIRSCO, AIM), and the U.S. SEC Industry Guide 7.  Measured, indicated and inferred resources and proven and probable reserves are assessed by MM&A’s team of mining experts.  MM&A also advises clients as to which particular reporting standards should be considered according to mineral deposit type, geographic location, and potential investors.

Marshall Miller & Associates’ Mining Engineers and Geologists Team Capabilities

Mining Engineering

Marshall Miller & Associates is home to a team of mining engineers and consulting specialists in an industry where expertise not only saves money and time, but also does much more to meet or exceed a client’s expectations and needs. As part of our performance process, MM&A tasks our staff of mining engineers – with extensive industry experience and many with graduate degrees from major universities – to first define the challenges you pose and then evaluate the results you hope to achieve. Once the feasibility and potential of a project is established, we deliver buildable mine design plans within a budget that stress safety, environmental concerns, cost control and optimized mine plans and production schedules.
